Dil, does she speak the same language as Little Foot and his friends?

In Land Before Time Journey Through the Mists, one thing I’ve noticed is that Dil the “belly dragger” never speaks to Little Foot and his friends. All she does is growl and roar at them like a sharptooth.

I guess you could argue that Dil doesn’t care about talking and just wants to eat them, but do you think she doesn’t speak the same “language” as the leaf eaters?

At the end of the movie, when Little Foot and his friends are talking about going home, Ichy comes out of the bushes and replies with – “The only place you’re going is in our stomachs”, so we know Ichy at least understands them.

I think they both can speak Leaf Eater. She probably doesn’t speak too much to the kids because

1.) She plans to eat them anyway.
2.) She has a hard time seeing them. She probably knows Ichy by his voice. The others, not so much.

Personally, though, I do think that Dil and/or Ichy was a Friendly Sharptooth in the past. How else would they learn the language of the Leaf Eaters?
