Why do you think the Great Valley is protected from sharpteeth, but the leaf eaters are free to come and go as they please? How is this possible? There are “far walkers” and the longneck herd from the 4th movie. They didn’t have any trouble getting to the Great Valley. So why can’t sharpteeth? This is never explained very well in the movies.

The Great Valley isn’t foolproof. Baby Chomper, Ozzy, and Strut were able to run around the Great Valley undetected by anyone but the five main characters.

Drat, can’t edit this post above. I was going to change it to say that Ozzy and Strut were spotted by that one Flyer (who apparently never bothered to tell the grownups that Egg Stealers were in the Great Valley!!!!)

Yes, it seems that smaller creatures can get into the valley quite easily. But that doesn’t explain how the grown up leaf eaters can come and go as they please, but the grown up sharpteeth can’t. If I remember correctly one of the TV episodes kind of explained this because there is a place where a lot of fruit grows that sharpteeth absolutely HATE the smell of. It helps keep them away, but leaf eaters like the smell and taste of the fruit. When Littlefoot & co ate too many of the fruits, Red Claw almost got into the valley. I suppose all the herds and such could come through there.

My theory has always been that the sharpteeth simply don’t want to enter The Great Valley. They are smart enough to know that they would have an easier time getting a meal in The Mysterious Beyond then having to enter The Great Valley.

It’s a simple fact that The Great Valley has herds of different species that work together. No single sharptooth can hope to get a meal in that situation. However, with The Mysterious Beyond, a sharptooth has a much better opportunity. They can easily get any stragglers or find a loner and have them for lunch.

This has always been my theory. Sharpteeth are just simply smart enough to not enter The Great Valley in the first place. They’re better off that way.

That actually makes a lot of sense. As Bron said, sharpteeth always hunt in a MAX of 2’s and 3’s. They’re loners by nature and don’t stand a chance against a whole valley full of leaf eaters. Chomper’s parents only came to the valley to get him. Otherwise they probably would have stayed in the Mysterious Beyond.

I think it’s a combination of all these factors that keep sharpteeth away from the Valley.

When did Bron say that? Was that in movie 14?

Actually that was in LBT 10. I take it by the way you talk you haven’t seen the 14th movie yet? If you have Netflix, it’s on there. Netflix is only like $8/month.

I suggest buying the full collection like i did. includes 1-14 with all of the original special features and a remastered original. At least the graphics are updated a little though i wouldn’t say its fully remastered. Its on Amazon. Came out earlier this year. should solve any issues you have with having to pirate witch I disapprove of. I consider it poor form.
